Behold, my very first "SteamPunk" image! It only took 8 hours to complete
As you can see, Pinkies Party cannon is not only 120% badass, but also walks! and when the steam is low, she can just use her boom stick. So watch out! here comes Pinkie!
Well, lets see here - the general concept is very imaginative; it has that steampunk feel and yet plays homeage to Pinkie herself, in more ways then one, I might add. I've seen a few steampunk ponies by now, but this one seems to have the most thought put into it.
To which end it's also quite original; a splendid mix of dark sci-fi and whack vibe that Pinkie always give out. As ironic as it may be, these two elements actually go well together.
The technique seems to be a mix as well - between simple, rushed drawing (the background and smoke effect) and a more detailed center piece... but, since it's Pinkie, insanity and lack of conhersiveness is kinda implied, which makes the whole thing even more unique then it already is.
The pic itself just blows you away... with a Party Cannon, of course; you instantly get smacked by the contrast of generally dark colors surrounding the wacky, pink pony. And it draws you in without you even noticing. A disturbing, very disturbing art that you feel like you wanna look away, but can't... much like Pinkie herself.
Overall it's a job well done... granted, I do not know if all I mentioned above was intentional, but it certainly turned out as a stunning entirety, forming a unique and worth-while outcome.
Truly Amazing!! The attention to detail and structure of the cannon are what make this work shine. Everything on the cannon fits together and the give a mechanical feel from the image. The steam also adds to the effect of bringing the machine to life as well as add a bit of background imagery to keep the backgroud from being dull. Drawing steam punk can't be easy, and the fact that this is the first steam punk project Template has ever worked on is absolutely astounding! Plus, you have to admit, Pinkie Pie looks epic in her steam punk outfit!
You know what this reminds me of? 'Rise of Legends'. One of 3 factions called the Vinci, Relies on Steam and clockwork technology to build their Armies. One unit of which, is The 'Steam Cannon'. Like Pinkie's, but has treads instead of legs. And fires Tank Shells. Still, Love the Art and the reference.
Hold on to your hat, mate. Gets better. What are legends without sorcery? The Alin (said : ah-lean) rely on three different arcane spells, Sand, Fire, and Glass. If only I could remember the name of the third Alien-aztec Faction. Memory isn't perfect.
i recall a certain steampunk panic at the disco song going on vevo recently... you can see into the future because this was uploaded on the 2nd. of jan. where as the song was uploaded on, i don't know, the middle of january
